Chris Rene tells his superhero story with passion and the killer combo of truth and love. He’s interesting, interested, and makes himself stand out because he knows how to tell his story. Chris has zero fancy credentials I’m aware of. He hauls trash for a living. And yet, he’s inspired us with his heroic story, one he probably wasn’t even aware he had to this extent. And this can be true for your story, too.

The New Storytellers: Michelle James “Storytelling and the Creative Process: Imaginative Ways to bring your Story to Life” Creativity and storytelling are like Oreos and milk – separate, they’re nice, but together they’re magic. When it comes to telling our own story, so much of what we accept as reality is just the habitual stories we tell ourselves. To articulate a [...]

(This post was inspired by Michael going into the studio to record new videos for Get Storied. He has some great things to say, and I thought I’d share with you!) 2011 has been dubbed the “year for video” by more than few internet marketers, but what does that really mean to you? You’re busy. You’ve got a message to [...]

Why Are Most Public Interest Stories so Un-Interesting? Many of our readers work in the nonprofit sector. In my experience, there’s nothing more compelling than storytelling around a cause or issue. Whenever you have someone facing and overcoming big challenges, there’s an interesting story to be told. Yet, you’re often dealing with taboo topics many are uncomfortable discussing: poverty, domestic [...]

Excited to release this 34-minute interview I did for Zappos Insights (back in Dec 2009). This was content previously available exclusively to the Zappos Insights membership community. In this video, my good friend Robert Richman, Product Manager of Zappos Insights, and I seriously geek out on the link between storytelling and cultures of innovation. Understanding the Zappos Brand Did you [...]

Many of you hope to become a recognized thought-leader in your industry, field, or niche. With good reason. If you’re a consultant, coach, author, speaker, or blogger – becoming a thought leader is the ticket to freedom. Thought-leaders are paid higher, get better gigs, and have more opportunities to choose from. That’s a fact.

“Helping others to reach their potential” is not your life’s mission. Neither is it “to make the world a better place.” Nor is it to “teach others how to grow and transform their lives.” Sorry. I know, I might be upsetting you right now. Just bear with me… The above statements are descriptions of your potential action and impact. But [...]
